Big Hug Butterfly Card

I have been very blessed over the years to have people in my life that have turned out to be my best friends.  And I treasure each and every one of them.  Then sometimes out of the blue I get to know someone  new and then I realize that they also will end up being another blessing in my life.  I have always loved hugs!  I grew up in a family that loves hugs and nothing is sweeter than having a hug from someone that you know cares about you.  Last Sunday two of my "new" friends came up to me and gave me a big hug just because.  It was a Sunday when I really just needed a hug!  I am not mentioning names because you know who you are! So this card is for you!

This is what I call a "two-fold" card. I know there is a name for it but for the life of me, I can't remember what the official name is, so this will have to do! Forgive the scissors at the bottom of the card, I didn't want to put my fingers in the picture!

I started with a white card base. I stamped the Big Hug from the Big Hug Stamp Set on the lower right side using Slate Ink.  I then embossed the right side using the Dot Embossing Folder.  On the left side of the card I used the patterned paper from the Georgie Paper Packet.  I added a small strip of Whisper Cardstock to both sides of the card.  Look below and see a picture of the card opened so you can understand what I did.

Then on a separate piece of white cardstock, I took the Canary  and Juniper Pigment inks from the Whimsy Pigment Ink Set and stamped the butterflies from the Your Own Kind of Wonderful Stamp Set.  After stamping these butterflies and embossing them with Clear Embossing Powder I then cut them out. Attached them to the front of the card.

Here is the picture of what the card looks like almost opened...

So you can see that the left side folds under the right side of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today. And here is a Big HUG from me to you!

Workshop card #4 for March 2016

Here is the last card that we did at my March workshop.

For the card base I used Desert Sand Cardstock.

Then I took out the Cricut Cartridge from the Artbooking Collection  I cut the white background and attached that to the card base. If you want to know what keys I used on that cartridge feel free to ask and I will gladly let you know.

I then took out the super cute Stuck on You Stamp Set and the Stuck On You Thin Cuts Dies.  I am really loving these dies and I am so glad that Close To My Heart is doing these as well as the Cricut cartridges!  Remember this stamp set as well as the dies will be no longer available after April of this year. One more month left! Note: the dies seem to be selling faster than the stamp sets..so when they do run out..you will not be able to purchase them even if it is before the end of April.

I cut out the two larger cactus plants using Pear Cardstock.  The middle cactus using Fern Cardstock.  I stamped the cactus images from the stamp set using New England Ivy Stamp Pad.
The large flower was cut of of Poppy Cardstock and teeny little middle of the flower was cut out of Pomegranate Cardstock.  I stamped those images with black ink as well as the message on the bottom of the card.

I also stamped the heart using Pomegranate Stamp Pad and the cute pots for the cactus plants using Desert Sand Stamp Pad.

Finished the card using a small piece of the Silver Shimmer Trim and a piece of Green Shimmer Trim.  Did you know that this sparkly shimmer trim has adhesive on the back?  All you have to do is peel and stick!  How fun is that!

Well that is the last of the workshop cards for this workshop.  Check back to see what else I will create for you!  Hugs!

Workshop Card #3 March 2016

Hello,

Here the 3rd card that we made for our March 2016 workshop.

It seems that I have been making Sympathy cards more than usual lately and decided it would be nice to have one on hand for when the occasion is needed.

This card I started with stamping the flower from the Take Heart Stamp Set. Then I colored it in with
Carmine ShinHan Marker and Sap Green ShinHan Marker.  Cut the flower out and set that aside.

Then I took white card base and attached patterned paper from the La Vie En Rose Paper Packet.  Then  I took a 2 inch circle punch and punched out a circle on the right side of the paper.
Then I stamped in black the Sympathy sentiment from the above set through the circle to the inside of the card.

I raided my stash and found some white ribbon from years ago and added that to the side of the circle.

I then took a 2 1/4 inch circle of white cardstock and ran it through my embosser using the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder.  Notice how it matches our paper!  I then attached that circle to a 2 1/2 piece of Black Cardstock. I then attached the flower I cut out to the middle of that circle.

Using 3-D Foam Tape I then attached that to the front of the card. Finished the card with  a few Silver Sequins.

I hope this gives you an idea on a Sympathy card if the need ever arises. Thank you for stopping by!  Hugs!

Workshop Card #2 for March 2016

Hello!

Here is the 2nd card we made at our March workshop.  It is cloudy and dreary outside here in Colorado today but this card makes me smile and look forward to those sunny days soon!

Remember to click on the links to see the products in great detail!

As I have mentioned before, Close To My Heart has a stamp of the month program that they sell  an exclusive stamp set for one month and after that month it is no longer available.  This month's stamp set is called
Sunshine Birdies and it is a cute set with 11 images in it.  After March it will no longer be available.

For this card I used the  Black Momento Pad to stamp the bird and sentiment etc.  I then took colored pencils and colored them in. This set reminds me of the adult coloring books that are in the rage right now and it was relaxing to sit and color all the images for this card.  I cut out the bird on the tree branch and the butterfly.

Before I attached to the base of the card, I ran the bottom of the card through my embosser using the  Scallop Embossing Folder to match the patterned paper that is in the Paper Fundamentals Whimsey Packet.  I also took a piece of Canary Cardstock and ran that through the embosser with the same embossing folder.  I took a 1 inch circle punch and punched out a circle to put inside my sun to match the bottom of the card.
I added a strip of the patterned paper and then to top it off I added some pretty Coral Shimmer Trim. Added the bird that I cut out and the butterfly.  Took a couple of Bitty Sparkles on the butterfly and cute, tiny flower.

So glad you stopped by!  Have a great day. Hugs!

Workshop #1 card for March 2016

Hello!

I had my workshop last week and it was fun!  I sure love the customers that have become friends who come faithfully each time.  It is fun to catch up on our lives and to have fun making the cards from the card kits that I created for the workshop.

Here is the first card that we did:

Listed below is the supplies used on this card.
Click on the links to see the products in greater detail. Don't forget that we have the awesome deal going on now with Close To My Heart where you can purchase two stamp sets and get the third one FREE!

I used the Spring Critters Stamp Set and I cut this image out using our Spring Critters Thin Cut Dies. These are going fast and when they are gone, they are gone!  This stamp set is only good til the end of April!

I colored in the bunny using Tender Pink ShinHan Marker and the yellow using the beautiful Watercolor Paints.
I also used the Watercolor paints on a piece of Watercolor cardstock to give the image of a blue sky in the background.   I then took a piece of our background and texture paper(patterned paper)  from the Penelope Paper Packet and put some small cuts on the top to resemble grass and attached to the bottom of the watercolor paper.  I then attached to a piece of Pear Cardstock.  I then took another piece of a patterned paper from the Penelope paper packet and attached to my card base. I then took a piece of Crystal Blue Cardstock and ran it through my embosser using the Vine Embossing Folder and attached to the patterned paper.  Using 3-D Foam Tape I attached the bunny to the front  and added a few Gold Sequins and it is done!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Look back in a couple of days for more workshop cards!  Have a awesome day.  Hugs!

Hello!

I know it is not even Spring here in Colorado but I had these new stamp sets that I just couldn't resist playing with today and decided to make a Summer card.  It is overcast, cloudy and windy here and I would love to be sitting on a beach but until that happens again, I will make cards instead!

On this card I used two stamps sets:

Beach Days Stamp set  and  My Anchor Stamp set.

OK..besides the stamp sets that I listed above here are the other items that I used in creating this card:   Stamp pads:
Pomegranate Stamp Pad
Pacifica Stamp Pad
Crystal Blue Stamp Pad
Canary Stamp Pad
Cashmere Stamp Pad

I also used two cardstock colors:  Champagne Cardstock and Pacifica Cardstock.

Thanks so much for checking in today.  I hope you enjoyed a taste of Summer!  Have a great day!  Hugs!

#6 Card Using the Penelope Paper Packet

Hello!

Thanks for checking back in to see the last of the six cards that I did!

I almost didn't do this card because after I cut it out, I was thinking "now what in the world do I do with this one?"  I decided to do a "party" theme.

I imagine you could use this as a birthday card, a invite to a party or a celebration!

I started by embossing the card base with the Confetti Stars Embossing Folder.

Then I took the cut out and attached to the front.  I then took out a cupcake from a old stamp set and colored them with my markers to match the colors of the cut out.  Cut them out and attached to the front. Finished by adding a few White Enamel Stars.

And that is it!  Thanks so much for stopping by and checking these out.  Now if you buy the new Paper Packs, you will have some ideas on how to use those cute pocket pages.

Have a great day!  Hugs!

#4 and #5 Cards using the Penelope Paper Packet

Hello,

These two cards today are a continuation of the blog post from February 25th.  So if you are new to my blog, check out that post so you can be updated on how I started making these cards! That post will give you links to different products!

On this card I used the  Penelope paper (see previous post for link to this paper).

I used the piece that I cut out of the patterned paper from the Penelope paper packet to make this card as well.

I took the Victorian Gratitude Thank You Stamp and the using the  Versamark Pad and the White Embossing Powder, I embossed the Thank you on the front.  I then attached to white cardstock.

I then took a piece of Pear Cardstock and embossed it using the Damask Embossing Folder.  I attached that to a Crystal Blue Cardstock base that I had already put a piece of the patterned paper from the Penelope paper packet.  I then put some Silver puffies on it to finish the card!

This cute little card was easy to do as well.  I cut out the bottom of one of pocket page cut outs that I did.  Set that aside while I did the front of my card base.

I stamped the clouds from Seaside Greetings Stamp Set with the Sapphire Ink.  I masked them and sponged over them with Crystal Blue Ink.  Removed the mask and had some fluffy clouds to  stand out.  I stamped the Thinking of you sentiment from the same Seaside Greetings stamp set.

I then took the cute frog that I cut out and attached that to the front of the card.  So fun!

Thanks for stopping by!  Look back in a few days and see the last card! of six that I created with these pocket cut outs!  Hugs!
